Top 5 Tips For Hat Hire

Picking a hat can be a tricky task. We all want to reflect our personal style while wearing something suitable for the event we’re attending. With so many hat styles to choose from, it can be a difficult decision! Now that we have our online hat hire service, we thought some tips on picking a hat would help you to begin (or continue) to book hats in the comfort of your own home.

Here are our Top Tips for Hat Hire

Tip 1: Think carefully of how your hair sits with your headpiece or hat. Typically for a headpiece, long hair is pulled away, pinned or in a ponytail so that it works with your hair.

Tip 2: Make sure that your hat is SECURE – on a windy day (which happens a lot in Ireland) you do not want to be holding on to your hat all day. Or worse still, have it blow away!

Tip 3:  Check with the person you’re hiring your hat from or your milliner on the correct placement of the hat. Placement is the key to ensuring the hat is seen at its best. And if it is worn correctly, it will be a lot more secure on your head.

Tip 4: Remember to choose something that complements your shape and height. If you are tall avoid tall hats and go for wider brims. If you are short avoid large hats and go for smaller structured creations.

Tip 5: For small headpieces, make sure that they are resting just above the eyebrow.

It is notoriously difficult to socially kiss while wearing a wide-brimmed hat. There is a knack to tilting the head at a suitable angle, but two ladies both in wide brimmed hats should greet each other with heads tilted to either side.

Here are some more helpful tips when it comes to headpieces:

  • For petite ladies, go for a tall, delicate hat that will give you height.
  • For those that wear glasses, choose an upturned brim style hat.
  • If you have a round face, a small headpiece or flower will elongate your face and make it seem longer.
  • If you have a square shaped face, opt for a larger hat to soften your face.
  • If your face is long, balance out the length by wearing an elegant beret on one side of your head.
